What is a Maryland Homeschool “Umbrella”?

In Maryland, homeschooling families are required by law to have their educational program supervised. You have two paths:

  1. The County Path: Reporting directly to your local Board of Education.
  2. The Ministry Path: Joining a “Sponsoring Organization” like CCA.

Administrative Support

Guidance & Community
Legal Oversight: Annual reviews and portfolio assistance to ensure state compliance. Personalized Guidance: Pre-enrollment conferences and mid-year check-ins.
High School Path: Assistance with transcripts and a non-accredited diploma. Resource Access: A comprehensive member binder, regular newsletters, and a private website.
Record Keeping: We maintain the necessary administrative files required by the state. Local Connection: A close-knit community of up to 30 families in the Central MD area.

The Role of CCA

  • Compliance: We “offer” the reviews and paperwork required by law.

  • Encouragement: We provide a local, faith-based alternative to secular oversight.

  • Availability: We are here to answer your questions and provide a “helping hand” throughout the year.

The Role of the Parent

  • Instruction: You provide the textbooks, curriculum, and daily lessons.

  • Grading: You are responsible for all grading and teacher oversight.

  • Self-Management: As a volunteer-run ministry, we do not send extensive reminders. Parents are responsible for meeting deadlines and maintaining their own records. If you don’t do it, it won’t get done!

Pricing Structure

Family (1-2 students) – $57

Each additional student – $5

Graduating senior – $15

You don’t have to be perfect to be a great homeschool parent. You just have to be present.
